What will you be doing?
Research, copywriting, social media, metrics reporting, content creation, event administration and PR administration.
Entry level position
Location – Newcastle Quayside
Wage – 17k-18k depending on experience.
Hours – Monday to Thursday, 9AM – 6PM
28 days annual leave including public holidays
£250 annual welfare budget
£500 annual training budget
Three-month probation period

Applications are now open for the Department of Education’s Care Leavers Internship (Administrative Officer).
There are positions available up and down the country, including in Darlington, Durham, Gateshead and Newcastle here in the North East.
No qualifications are required – all you need to apply is to be able to meet the criteria and then be able to evidence prior to being invited to interview with a letter from the local authority that provided your care and appropriate ID.
You can apply if:
You will be aged between 18 and 30 on the 1st of October 2019. You were eligible for a leaving care support package when you left care and will be aged between 18 and 30 (On 1st October 2019. In order to qualify for leaving care support, you must have been in care for a minimum of 13 weeks, some of which must have been after your 16th birthday. You must also have the right to work in the UK.
This is a fantastic opportunity for care leavers to get a paid 12 month internship working with and supporting a local government office.
To apply you will need to complete an online application form, which will ask you to provide a personal statement of 500 words demonstrating you can do the following:
- Use Microsoft Word and Excel
- Speak to people over the telephone and face to face
- Have good organisational skills
- The ability to prioritise workloads
- Have good written communication skills

The If We Can You Can Challenge 2019 – Ideas Prize!
Do you think you have a great idea on how to start a new business? Are you unsure as to what steps to take next? Or do you think you’re not qualified to start out?

If you are currently looking for a job and aged between 16-25 then you can take part in a 12-week programme with the Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service in Gosforth which is delivered in partnership with the Prince’s Trust.
As part of the programme you will be working towards a nationally recognised qualification, as well as the possibility to work towards a Numeracy & Literacy qualification if required.
Week 1 – Team building, problem solving, communication, action plan setting.
Week 2 – Team building residential.
Week 3 & 4 – Firefighting, Healthy Living, First aid, fitness and wellbeing activities and sessions. Planning remainder of course.
Week 5 & 6 – Community based project as decided by group.
Week 7 & 8 – Work placement, either in chosen industry or to gain an insight into a range of industries.
Week 9 – CV building, interview skills and training, job search, letter writing and other employability support.
Week 10 & 11 – Continuing activities from week 3&4 as well as fundraising.
Week 12 – Final presentation.

Sunderland Business Xchange Autumn Networking
On September the 19th (aka International Talk Like a Pirate Day!) there is the return of the Sunderland Business Xchange Networking event.
Held at the Hope Street Xchange at Sunderland University the event is perfect for those of you with your own businesses or even those who are considering starting one.
There will be local businesses (and a free breakfast!) at the event as well as guest speakers including Scott Wilkes, head of University of Sunderland’s new Medical School and Natalie Dellow the Marketing & Communications Coordinator for the Sunderland Business Improvement District.
